Day 28: Outing yet again

We have another outing today. It was a visit to 长春观, a taoist temple in Wuhan. The taoist believe in meditation to attain immortality and finding all kind of ways to make the immortality pills. Thus, they love to find ulu ulu places to set up their shrine, where they will be isolated from the outside world. However, for this case, it is different. The shrine is built on the busy street. Why is it so? It is because the shrine is built up before the city was developed.

"God of fortune hall" - Of cause must go in la

After the taoist temple, we visited Memorial of Wuchang Uprising 1911 Revolution, 辛刻革命武昌起义纪念馆. The major building of Memorial Hall of Wuchang Uprising in 1911 Revolution is a two-storey red building, called “Red Chamber”. The uprising marked the beginning of the Revolution of 1911, which led to the overthrow of China's last feudal dynasty, the Qing (1644-1911).

Conference room

Also another conference room, maybe during dinner time.

We returned at about 12pm. So we went opposite for lunch and headed back. There is no more activities for they day. Another group of them went to K-Box. I took a nap before heading to Carrefour for dinner.

We had dinner at Houcaller. A place where they serves western food. The food is not bad. It serves a portion of spaghetti and 1 egg and 1 piece of meat, depending on which one you ordered.

Day 27: Monday Blues

2 weeks more and I am going home! Oh going home! Wuhan shall be missed. But it's 2 more weeks of fun for me. Lets make the best out of this trip!

I can see from everyone faces today that they are tired. I think it's due to yesterday's activity. However, lesson still went on as usual and Mr Wee covered 2 topics today. We are down to the last 2 topics in Project Management.

After lesson, we accompanied Jian Wen to make his specs as his old pair the screw came off. We tried many shops to try to get a screw replacement but all could not fix it. So he decided to make a new pair which cost around 200 yuan. It can be made in 30 minutes.

I am meeting my mother today at Wuhan as well. As for her trip, she will stop by Wuhan for 1 night before flying off elsewhere. I managed to meet her to pass her some items to bring back to Singapore. The hotel room she is staying in is seriously big. Enough to accomodate more than 4 person.

We chatted for a while before splitting up and go our ways. As we have to reach our hostel before 11pm, we could not stay for too long. I bought some toys for my cousins as I hardly see a toy shop.

Some interesting things happened today. On our way to meet my mum, during the cab ride, we witnessed an accident. A taxi knocked into a motorcycle with 3 person on it. It was just in front of us. The motorist just flew off the bike as if he is flying.

I seen a very big toy bus at the shop. It cost 1,888 yuan and there is absolutely no zooming in the picture.

There will be an outing tomorrow and I am required to gather at 8am. .

Signing off as of now.

Day 26:

Our Sunday was filled with much fun.

Firstly, we went to Si Men Kou, Hu Bu Xiang to have our lunch. It was a food street with many varieties. We bought some snacks here and there and completed our lunch adventure. After that, we went to do some shopping around that area. First, it was shoe, followed by clothings, etc. I spotted 1 pair of shoe but it was considered too exp for a "fake". But that was the only shop that sells it. I could not see that pair at other places. We entered a shop which sells the local brand shirt. We notice this shop for a long time already as it was widely available throughout Han Kou. It's like a franchise kind of system. I went in without the intention of buying anything but ended up with 2 shirts. 1 for Norman and 1 for my Grandmother. Thats the only 2 item i bought for today.

As for dinner, it was quite easily settled. "TEPPANYAKI"!!!!!!! Needless to say, the dinner was fantastic. Also, the dinner's mood was also coupled by the lady boss treating us to spring roll. We found out that she was actually a Singaporean as well. Thus, the good hospitality. But I think it is our frequent visit to the place for food as well. As the Orchard which serves Singapore food and the Teppanyaki is also under her and both are merged. I think it's is really kind of her to do that.

After dinner, we planned to take a cab back but in the end we took a van back which cost us 15 yuan which is much cheaper compared to taking cab.

Day 25: ฉันรักจีน

There is no breakfast today as I woke up at 11+. After washing up, I checked with Xiu Jin if they have spare maggie noodles for loan. I had noodles for my brunch. After that we decided to go out.

Today, we went to 亚贸广场 to do some shopping and walk walk. Temperature today was quite low. A total of 13 people went. We arranged for a place to meet and gather everyone before making any further plans. We plan to meet 3 hours later. From 6pm to 9pm, we walked and walked and walked. We 5 guys did not buy anything much but we were surprised when we saw the girls coming back. They bought a lot of stuffs. I am still trying to find items to buy back for my cousins and everyone.

Dinner today was quite terrible. We went to a lot of places before we managed to settle on one foodcourt. The food there is seriously terrible. The food that we ordered was not even alike to the model that they display.

Day 24: It's a weekend Today!

Today everyone slept in till quite late as there was no morning class. Lesson at 8am have been cancelled. I woke up and straight away went to bath. I have not bath yesterday night as there are some modifications to the toilet. The silicon is not quite dry and a minimum of 10 hours is required for it to dry and cannot touch water.

I have some sponge cakes for breakfast. Those were bought yesterday and they were still soft this morning. We played PES for a while and left house for lunch. We went to a store that have free flow of rice and yet delicious. The store can cook for you any combination you would like to eat.

After lesson today, we went to the shopping centre behind our classroom block as Kuan wanted to exchange SGD for RMB. But the banks here dun accept SGD and they were super unfriendly. They only accept USD. The only money changer available in town was in Han Kou. Kuan then went on to buy some clothes for his sister, the store owner even thought that we are from Vietnam. As we proceeded back, it started to rain a little. We initially intended to take a cab back but there was no cab at all. All the cabs were hired, maybe due to the rain as well. We waited for quite a while before deciding to walk back in the rain.

After reaching home, I immediately went to take a quick shower, in case I fall sick due to the drizzle. This is the 2nd time since I bathed today.

Just as we were pondering what to have for dinner, I came across Tee Yong's blog and saw that his dinner yesterday was quite interesting. It was beef spaghetti. Me, Jian Wen and Weiyang went there to have dinner. Kuan did not go as he was not feeling too well. I did not have my dinner also as I am still feeling full after lunch today.

I broke my personal best record today as I bath for the 3rd time today.

Day 23: Play and Play and Play

Today was the long awaited test for all of us. As after today, the next test would be back in Singapore when school reopens. Test today was fairly simple to some but also difficult if you did not study the right topic. We have to answer 2 out of 3 question in 1 hour.

This afternoon, there will be someone coming to install a partition on the floor to prevent the water from the bathing area to flow out of the toilet. It seems quite useless as usually the water also dun flow out. This action has caused us being unable to bath for minimum 10 hours.

Today's dinner was at a place that serves Singapore local delicacies. E.g. Hainanese chicken rice, Laksa, BCM, Lor Mee. The food here cannot be compared to Singapore obviously. I had curry chicken + rice for dinner. After dinner, we went to carrefour and bought $120 ++ of food. So scary man. Everytime we enter into carrefour, we sure buy some things and end up to be 90++.

Tomorrow morning class haven been cancelled. YAY! So tomorrow left afternoon class which is 2-4pm.

Day 22: and counting . . .

20 more days to go!

We had Macdonalds for breakfast today. We woke up specially at 8am just to go to Mac for breakfast. We walked for about 30 minutes to the Mac which is behind our classroom block. There is no lesson today as there is a test tomorrow. Initially there was an outing today, but it was cancelled.

After that, we went back to study. Today was really an enriching day for me as I study 5 chapters of Project Management. But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Of course, in between we had some matches of PES.

Dinner today was special. Although on the same food street, we passed by this stall for 3 weeks already, but we never did once enter to try the food. And thanks to recommendation from those who tried it before, we then enter it for the 1st time in 3 weeks. The food is different from the normal fried rice and noodles. This stall is like "tze char". You order the ingredients you want then they cook it for you and put it on top of the rice. It is not as oily and salty as the rest. And one more highlight of this stall is that there is free flow of rice. You can refill as much as you want.

Tomorrow is the PM test. . Wish me luck. tyvm

Day 21: Halfway there!

Today is Day 21. 3 weeks since I left Singapore and 3 weeks more back to Singapore. In exactly 21 days, I will be back in Singapore.

We visited 湖北省博物馆 today. It was a very big museum with many items on display. We spent hours walking through the exhibits. We started from 2pm and could not finish even at 5pm.

An Overview of the area.

First, we were brought to view a Chu Orchestra inside a theatre. It basically make use of the instruments that was found when they dig it up.

"What's interesting up there?"

After that, we were brought to tour the museum. Basically, the museum displays items that were left behind by the Chu's.

The image behind is formed by a wall painting.

The kitkat that I won when answering question.

On our way back, the bus driver was very kind. He drove us around 东湖 so that we can have a look. Although we went there before, but still it's a kind intention of our china lecturer and the bus driver. Everyone was reminded to express our gratitude to the bus driver upon alighting.

We wanted to have steamboat for dinner but there were too little people and the route to the steamboat was quite far away. Furthermore, we have not ate any food since morning. So we just settle for dinner at the street opposite our campus.

Tomorrow will be another day free for us as the outing tomorrow was cancelled as the planner was not free.

Day 20: Cold Cold Weather.

Today we has extra lesson at 0900. Mr Wee initiated this extra lesson so that he can go through with us tutorial questions for the test on Thursday. It was quite cold today, according to the locals, it is known as 变天. Halkway during the lesson, it started to rain. It was getting colder and heavier when lesson ended. So we could not go to the shopping centre behind our class. We headed for lunch before going home.

As today was Xiu Jin's birthday, she initiated the dinner at Golden Hans as a form of celebration. We are supposed to have 3 type of celebration. 1st, pre-birthday celebration. 2nd, celebration during the time she was born, which is 11:23pm. 3rd, celebration for end of birthday. Of course, this type of celebration we will attend la.

So in the end, 15 people went, including Mr Wee. We took a cab down to Carrefour. Golden Hans was located just outside the cashier of Carrefour.

Group photo that was taken. I think it's the only one.

The rate was 38 yuan per head. It was not a bad meal. I felt that only the roasted meat, etc were nice. The buffet was not very good. More photos to be uploaded once i get hold of it.

Day 19: Study and Play

This Sunday, we did not go out to anywhere. We stayed at home throughout the day, as we wanted to revise for our Project Management test which falls on Thursday. We had instant noodles for lunch. And played a few rounds of FIFA 09 and PES.

Today dinner, it is something special. Jian Wen and Jia Fu cooked rice for dinner. I helped to fry one dish of vegetable with potato. Rice wasn't enough to go around for too many people, so we try to control the number of people eating. In the end, only 6 people eat. Tee Yong and Kuan did not eat it.

After dinner, they were planning to get XiuJin a cake for her birthday, which falls tomorrow. Our duty was to keep her in our house and make sure she does not go down lest she became suspicious. Me, Weiyang and Kuan tried our very best to keep her entertained. LOL! The rest came back with a very BIG piece of cake, which we only managed to finish half of it. Another half is still in the fridge.

Would like to end this post with a congratutory note delicated to XiuJin. "Happy 18th Birthday". And there's a lot more birthday coming up. Keep posted!
