Day 11: No Venture, No Gain

Today was the first saturday we had in Wuhan, the previous saturday was spent on the cruise.

This morning, someone came to fix our kitchen and living room light. Such express service. However, after the lights are fixed, another problem came along. The toilet bowl could not flush down the total suspended solids.

We initially planned to meet at 11am before proceeding to our first targeted venue of the day, and that is 江汉路 of 汉口. Initially, we thought that everyone is going together and that means 21 person. However, due to some communication breakdown amongst us, only 14 people went. We hired 2 van to fetch us there. Max. 12 person per van. Thus, we could have saved much more if we hired only 1 van and 1 taxi. Our return taxi fare was only 54 yuan. Around 13.5 yuan per person. The journey took around 1 hour. Along the way, there were lots of beautiful sceneries and car horns.

As we did not have breakfast before that, and it was around 1+, all of us were hungry, so the first thing we do when we reach was to find FOOD! After walking for about 30 minutes, we found a place which is agreeable by everyone. It was so difficult to find a place for everyone to eat. Initially we wanted to order clams and frog. But as it was our first time ordering, Jia fu order the wrong food. We got a shock when we saw it. It was a big pot of Escargot!

Spicy frog dish. Seriously spicy. Toungue got numb when eating.

The big pot of Escargot!

Me trying out the Escargot.

Initially, we were disgusted when we saw it. Some of it are seriously big. But since we ordered, we had to eat it, if not it is really wasteful. It was actually quite tasty and addictive. When you eat one, you will want to eat another. We kept promising ourself that this will be last but we just couldn't stop eating.

Weiyang, Jian Wen and me contributed the most to the pot of escargot.

The leftovers. Sorry for wasting food. =(

After we are done, we walked past a dessert and egg tart shop. The food there look attractive, we decided to buy and try. And the egg tart was really fantastic. We ended up buying 5 boxes in total.

There were alot of shops along the streets. You could see mostly sports shop. e.g Nike, Adidas, Converse, Kappa. 1 street alone could have up to 5 - 6 nike stores.

I saw this bridge and found that it was actually quite special and practical. It enables user to climb from 4 ends of it, and we could enter shops from the overhead bridge. One advantage is that, user do not have to cross over the road to use the overhead bridge.

Ming Jewellery = 明牌(Branded)
"Means branded goods belongs to Ming's?"

ATM machine locked up.

This was part 1 of today's itinerary.

2nd part was 惊汉路. According to Jia fu, it would take us 30-40 minutes of walking. So we chose walking instead of taking a taxi. But we ended up walking for 2 hours +. And also, when we reach, that area was more of wholesale place. Where people get their items to sell.

"Where's your safety belt?"

"Danny Williams"

"Balloon Man"

"Lucas, this shop for you?"

After that, we walked to Wuhan Shopping Centre, the things there were expensive and not for us, students. Most of it were branded stuffs. As it was quite late, we had to find a place to settle our dinner. As we walked and walked, it seems an endless road. Suddenly something familiar appear right in front of us. MACDONALDS! We then proceeded to have our dinner at Mac. Something special about Mac here is that it is not halal. There is Mac Pork here. Of course, I am obligated to try it.

Wuhan Shopping Centre. Expensive stuffs there.

After the meal, we called the van and waited for it to come. 4 of us took a cab, 10 of them take the van.
